Joseph R. Weingartz, age 73, of North Branch, Michigan died Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at his home. Joe was born April 2, 1930 in North Branch Township, Michigan to Michael and Mary (Robinet) Weingartz.
Joe was a lifelong resident of North Branch and he graduated from North Branch High School in 1948. On October 22, 1952 he married Orva Moore at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in North Branch, Michigan. Joe served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from General Motors after 39 years of service.
Joe enjoyed woodworking, gardening, flower gardens, yard work, hunting, trapping, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Orva, daughter, Lisa Weingartz of West Branch, Michigan, sons; Mark (Ellen) of Lapeer, Joe (Stacey) of North Branch, Michigan and Kalan, of North Branch, Michigan, sisters; Doris (Francis) Nellenbach of North Branch, Michigan, Lucille (John) Speicher of Okemos, Michigan and Ruth Ann (John) Nellenbach of North Branch, Michigan, brothers; Eugene (Maureen) Weingartz of North Branch, Michigan, Bernard (Rose) Weingartz of Florida, sister-in-law, Betty Weinartz of North Branch, Michigan 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, George and sister, Evangeline Doneth.
Memorials may be made to the Marlette United Hospice Service.

The family will be present at the funeral home for visitation on Thursday, October 23 2003 from 5 to 8 pm, with a scripture service at 7:00 pm. Joseph will lie in state at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church from 9 to 10 am on Friday, October 24, 2003 with the funeral mass to follow at 10:00 am. Burial will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Fr. Weingartz and Fr. Richard Treml will be officiating.
