Katherine Vollweiler, age 93, of Fostoria, Michigan, died June 25, 2003 at Lapeer Regional Hospital. Katherine was born December 1, 1909 in North Branch Township, the daughter of Phil and Emma (Gaynor) Vollweiler.

Katherine retired from the North Branch School District after 32 years of service. She received her degrees from County Normal School and a master's degree from Eastern Michigan University. She started teaching in 1929. She was married to Herman Vollweiler for 56 years, he preceded her in death. Katherine volunteered her time working at the North Branch Thrift Shop for the past 18 years, and she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, making beautiful quilts and working in her flower gardens. Katherine was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

She is survived by her sister, LaDell Gormley of Attica, Michigan and many nieces and nephews.

Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, 3 sisters and 1 brother.

The family will be present for visitation on Thursday, June 26, 2003 from 5 to 8, and Friday, June 27, 2003 from 12 to 2:15. The funeral mass will be 2:30 pm, Friday, June 27, 2003 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Rich Treml officiating. The Burial will be in Rich Cemetery, Mayville, Michigan.
