Francis Fred Pasternak Sr., age 80, of North Branch, Michigan died Friday, May 16, 2003 at his home. Fred was born June 6, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Michael and Anna (Onyskio) Pasternak.

Fred married Louise Diller August 31, 1946 at the Deerfield Church. He retired from Grand Trunk Railroad as a trackman. Fred was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He was a true outdoors man, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting and morel picking.

He is survived by his wife, Louise, daughter, Judith Ann Rappuhn of Florida, sons; Fred Jr. and John (Tammy) Pasternak both of North Branch, Michigan, and Jos (Regina) Van Berckel of Vancouver, British Columbia, grandchildren; Paul (Jennifer) Pasternak, David Pasternak, Tina (Michael) Santacrose, Michael Pasternak, Melissa (Ray) Thurlow, Daniel (Fiancée, Jamie) Pasternak, Jennalyn Lucas, Timothy Pasternak, Anthony Rappuhn, Andrew Lucas, and Daneah Pasternak, great-grandchildren; Peyton, Emma, and Lilly Pasternak and Nicholas Thurlow, brother, Mike Pasternak of North Branch, many nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; John and Eugene, and grandson, James Edward Pasternak.

The Pasternak family would like to thank Clay and Annette Armstrong and family, and John and Loretta Thurlow and family for being a special part of Fred's life.

Memorials may be made to the St. Junes Children Hospital or the Johnny Burkes Children Foundation.

The family will be present for visitation at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home, North Branch, Michigan, on Saturday, May 17, 2003 from 5 to 8, and Sunday, May 18, 2003 from 12 to 8. A Rosary will be prayed on Sunday at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 19, 2003 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Richard Treml officiating. The burial will be in SS. Peter and Paul cemetery.
