Leland Klauka, age 64, of North Branch, died Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at  his home. Leland was born December 22, 1937 in Lapeer County to Leo and Rose (Firmingham) Klauka. On June 6, 1957 he married Joyce Berndt at the Lapeer Methodist Church.

As A child, Leland worked on the dairy farm with his parents. He retired from Bostick Foundry as a supervisor, and worked on small engines and tractors. He was also a wood cutter. Leland finished his education in 1988 and received his GED from Lapeer County Adult Classes, he was very proud of his accomplishment.

He enjoyed going on trips to northern Michigan, picking berries and having coffee with his friends. He will be missed by all of his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, daughters; Julia Hurd of Battle Creek, Michigan, Marcia (John) Burnette of North Branch, Michigan and Cynthia (Jellin) Klauka of Almont, Michigan, and sons; Richard Klauka, Phillip (Dusty) Klauka, and Cary (Denise) Klauka all of North Branch, Michigan, five grandsons, sisters; Betty Shoults of Mayville, Michigan and Dorothy (Kenneth) Harmon of North Branch, Michigan, several nieces, nephew and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.

A Memorial service will be 1:00, Friday, September 13, 2002 at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Ferrigan officiating. Cremation has taken place.
