Asa L. Horton, age 88, of North Branch, Michigan, died Tuesday, February 3, 2004. Asa was born March 20, 1915 in Virginia to Grover and Florence (Fletcher) Horton.
Asa retired from Fords as a foreman and he also was a coal miner in Virginia before moving to Michigan. He was a member of the New Hope Missionary Church in Lapeer, Michigan, The Trelum Blue Lodge #552, Shrine for Moslem Temple, Detroit, Michigan and Royal Arch Mason, Royal Oak, Michigan, Chapter #167.
Asa always had a big smile, and he enjoyed hunting, watching deer in his back yard and loved children.

He is survived by his best friends and caregiver, Carrie Wiz, daughter, Joyce Harrison, sisters; Sadie Doyle, Gracie Helton, Virgie Farmer, Edna Castle and Elsie Horton, brother, Sam Horton and step-son, Burnes Hughes Jr..

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel, October 21, 2001, brother, Edward Horton in 1997 and sister, Dorothy Hackney in 1995.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 8, 2004 from 5 to 8 pm. There will be a Masonic Service at 7:00 pm, Sunday, at Blackburn Chapel with the funeral service to follow with Pastor Gerald Sims officiating.
