Richard G. Bennett, age 50, (formerly of Romulus) of North Branch, died Saturday, November 16, 2002 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Richard was born November 19, 1951 in Rouge, Michigan, the son of William and Eudell (Parker) Bennett.

On May 18, 1985 Richard married Karen Oxendine in Riverview, Michigan. He enjoyed working on his 1955 chevy car, going to car shows and antique shopping with his wife, Karen. Richard enjoyed being around people and his job at Newcor in Clifford where he was a production manager.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, sons; Ricky (Maria) Bennett of Wyandotte, Billy Bennett of Westland and David (Connie) Slack of Westland, grandchildren; Ricky, Nickie and Matthew, sisters; Shirley Bruce, Cindy (Marvin) Caines, Joyce (Gene) Blankenship, Barbara (Donnie) Whitlow, Joanne Short, Jeannette Kelly, and Nora (Ray) Whorley, brothers; William (Pat) Bennett of Oklahoma, many nieces, nephews, friends and special neighbors; Ron and Carolyn Bower.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Robert.

Memorials may be made to the Marlette United Hospice.

The family will be present for visitation on Tuesday, November 19, 2002 from 4 to 8, and Wednesday, November 20, 2002 from 10 to 1:30, the funeral service will be 1:30pm, Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Ferrigan officiating.
